I'm New

Welcome

Central Baptist Church of NYC is a place where people can meet Jesus,  engage in life-giving community, and everyone is welcome. We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts and use them for God's glory. Join us for our Sunday services!

What To Expect

A typical service will last about 90 minutes. We sing a good mix of contemporary and traditional music that is led by our worship team. Plan to hang around after the service for fellowship and meeting new people. There is childcare available and activities for all age groups.

What should I wear?

Come as you are: our church serves a community of all ages, cultures and languages. Come in what makes you comfortable: jeans, a suit, dress, sneakers, shoes, or flip flops.  We want to meet you as you are.

What about my children?

We have a nursery which provides a safe place for infants to 6 years old.  We have a security system set-up which ensures that children are safe and will only be dismissed to their parents or guardians. The nursery is only staffed during our 11 AM service time.  Even during the times when our nursery is not staffed by volunteers, it is open for parents to use with their children as they need.

For youth aged 6+, we have Children's Sunday School on the second, third and fourth Sundays of the month. (First Sunday is Communion Sunday and we love seeing families together for that celebration!) Classes are broken down by grade (K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th+).  Our youth gather in our balcony and, after Praise and Worship music, they go to various classrooms. Our teachers provide a lesson that is relevant and age appropriate.  After our worship service is completed, you can go to the parlor (third floor) to pick-up your child. Parents must sign their children in and out  from Sunday school.

Everyone who works with a child has undergone local and national background checks and has been specially trained for their ministry.

Is there parking?

Yes, but it is limited.  This is New York, after all!  We have some double-parking in front of the church.  The best way to come to CBC, though, (like everything else in NYC) is through public transportation.  Taking the 1/2/3 train to 96th Street will leave you five blocks from the church.  If you take the B/C train to 96th, you will be about six blocks from the church.

O.k.  I like it at CBC, but I have questions.  What should I do?

If you have a question during service, please speak to any of our prayer counselors, deacons or pastors.  We would be happy to answer your question then or schedule a time to get together that is more convenient.  You can always call our offices during the week at (212) 724-4004 to speak with someone.
