The Mission
The mission of Central Baptist Church of NYC is the same mission Jesus gave his followers: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
The Vision
We desire to be a vibrant, Christ-centered community devoted to the study of Scripture and its fulfillment through our words and deeds. We will abound in love for one another and create a welcoming environment without limitations or boundaries to people from every generation and culture who seek refuge in Jesus. We will cultivate a passion to share the gospel wherever God leads us, while still striving to be the friendliest church in New York City.
Our Values
L4 reflects the convictions and passion of CBC. The grounding principle of this vision is stated in Colossians 1:28-29, "He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me."
- Loving sacrificially (Phil 2:3-4) requires that we are always working towards the benefit of others. Sometimes this is through our offering, but often it comes from our service to one another. How do you think of serving others?
- Learning intentionally (Deut 6:6-7) speaks to our desire to understand God’s word so we can grow fully mature in Christ. This is a bedrock value which can only be accomplished within the Body of Christ.
- Leading courageously (Rom 1:16) is our passion to share the gospel, in all of its facets, to all who will listen. This may be traditional evangelism efforts or it may be services which purposely bring our ambassadors for the kingdom of God into largely non-Christian area of life.
- Living sincerely (James 1:22) is the goal of Christian discipleship. What we say on Sunday morning should be affirmed in word and deed throughout the week. We should be living without hypocrisy in a world which is always seeking to challenge the truth of our convictions.
